Dear all,

we are pleased to invite you to the Q3/2024 ACFE Austria Chapter meeting, which will take place in person in Vienna and will be kindly hosted by the Vienna Fire Brigade at their headquarter at Am Hof 9, 1010 Vienna. The topics for this event are:

Handling of crisis – Vienna Fire Brigade

The occurrence of fraud can disrupt the whole organisation and leads the organisation into crisis mode. Decisions need to be taken very fast, communication measures need to be defined and taken and crisis mode replaces the normal business for an uncertain amount of time. For such cases, it is good to have a plan and know, how to handle it.

In this respect, the Vienna Fire Brigade will give us insights, in how to handling crisis. Daily business of the Vienne Fire Brigade is to handle exceptional situations. We will get insights into:

  • Crisis handling plan and      measures
  • Crisis communication
  • Practical tips

From the experience and tips of the fire brigade we can deprive lessons learned for our fraud examiner business.

Experiences from ransomware incidents

There are many different forms of fraud which can lead to a crisis. One, which often leads to the collapse of a whole organisation or to a severe restriction of the ability to work are ransomware incidents.

Stefan Tödling, alite GmbH, will give us insights in how to handle ransomware incidents. He will share experiences and best practices from cyber security incidents with regard to crisis management and technical emergency response:

  • Brief introduction to the      current threat landscape
  • Typical course of a ransomware      attack
  • Common misconceptions and      sources of error

Panel discussion

Afterwards a panel discussion with representatives from the Vienna Fire Brigade and Stefan Tödling will take place. They share more of their experiences and you get the chance to ask them some more questions.

The event is open to ACFE Austria Chapter members, but we are happy to welcome professionals who are not yet members of the Chapter, would like to attend the meeting and are interested in becoming members.

Participation at this event will grant existing ACFE members 2 CPEs.
